No doubt youve heard about Centrals reputation as one of the top schools in the Anne Arundel County. It didnt get that way by chance. Your Central PTA is this schools number one partner in that success.

If you have not been receiving our email blast, we would love to include you. We send out notices for volunteer slots, along with school, sports and community announcements. It is the best way to be passively informed about your childs school. To join the email blast, send an email to secretary@mycentralpta.org.
The 2011-2012 PTA membership will cost $8. With that membership you receive a copy of the school directory, which is offered exclusively to PTA members, as well as many discounts at local and national vendors that support the PTA. Join us today!
About 80 percent of our families join PTA. Our services, however, benefit 100 percent of students.
This is not your moms PTA. We dont have bake sales. We do raise a lot of money and spend it here, but our mission is to improve the educational environment for every student and to make parental involvement the basis of our presence. How do we do it?
 1. Financial Commitment. We spend over $40,000 on our students in this building each year. We buy library books, bring in assemblies, give teachers a discretionary fund to spend in the classroom, bring in visiting authors and artists, provide after-school enrichment clubs like our book club and engineering club. We help the school to acquire capital improvements like the stage curtain, the rock wall, and new technologies like document cameras and SmartBoards. We raise this money through 2 fundraisers: one in the fall and our annual auction and 5K walk/run in the spring, called the Tiger Trot. We also count on local businesses to support our efforts.
2. We Deliver an Army of Volunteers. We are in the classroom and on field trips, we mentor students, read stories, make copies and work the book fair. There is a PTA volunteer in this building every day of the year. And it isnt the same person each day -- it is hundreds of volunteers each giving a little that makes our effort so big.
3. We Provide Family Fun. We host several events either free or at cost. In the fall we do a BBQ dinner with math-themed games for the boys and girls. Toward the winter break, we offer free movie nights for families. In the spring we do an ice cream social where student artists and authors perform on stage. This year, we will be adding a couple family game times after school. These are great events where families can come to a safe environment where their kids can have a little fun with school friends.
4. We Advocate. We monitor events, advocate on behalf of our school and testify regularly on policy and budget issues before the county and the board of education.
